APC is delighted to join the Advanced Mammalian Biomanufacturing Innovation Center (AMBIC) as one of the 26 industrial partners. AMBIC, led by Prof Mike Betenbaugh from Johns Hopkins University, has 5 academic partner institutions leading efforts to improve upstream manufacturing processes for protein-based medicines. AMBIC’s focus on industry-led research priorities is especially important for APC as it strives to ensure its internal development activities and capabilities are fully informed by the leading academic and industrial research in this important area.

AMBIC implements engineering innovations to enhance the capabilities  to manufacture important life-extending and life-saving medicines. Such improvements will improve the competitiveness of biomanufacturing in the coming decades leading to more economic investment by companies and more jobs.

The mission of AMBIC is to develop enabling technologies, knowledge, design tools, and methods that apply and integrate high-throughput and genome-based technologies to fast track advanced biomanufacturing focused primarily on upstream issues.

APC accelerates the development of quality life-changing medicines to patients, utilising its state-of-the-art technology platforms (ACHIEVE™ and BioACHIEVE™) across synthetic and biological molecules to reduce time, cost, and risk to develop and launch new medicines. Headquartered in Dublin and partnering with 8 of the top-10 global pharmaceutical, and 5 of the top-10 biopharmaceutical companies, APC provides its services globally. Employing the best and brightest APC continues to redefine the possibilities in research, development, and manufacturing science.

Professor Brian Glennon, APC’s CTO, said: “We have important on-going collaborations with researchers in Ireland in UCD and NIBRT. Joining AMBIC allows us to expand these external collaborations with the wider AMBIC team which represents some of the leading bioprocess research teams globally. APC is looking forward to working with them in the coming years.”
